Washington Youth Soccer is pleased to announce a brand-new program specifically designed to train and empower new female soccer coaches throughout the state. US Youth Soccer has awarded us the Let Her Coach Grant, which makes it possible for ALL female college students in Washington to become US Soccer-certified Grassroots coaches at no cost to them. 

Better coaches = better players

Every soccer journey begins at the grassroots level! In an effort to further improve the grassroots soccer environment for both players and coaches, U.S. Soccer has restructured the foundation of its coaching license pathway. The new Grassroots Licensing Courses, which replace the F and E License Courses, offer an a la carte approach meant to empower coaches with education that is relevant to their specific coaching needs. The Grassroots Licenses will help coaches ensure fun, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate environments for their players.

Grassroots coaching has many benefits for aspiring coaches, whose pathway is now more clear and effective than ever before. 

Experience: Learn how to coach, teach, instruct, adapt, collaborate and think creatively. Though this course is soccer specific, its benefits reach far beyond soccer.

  • Growth: Are you a current player? Deepen your understanding and confidence by seeing the game through the lens of a coach. Your game will improve as you break it down and approach it in new and effective ways. 
  • Opportunity: Get a jumpstart on the Coaching License Pathway. Coaching is flexible, whether you’re looking for a career change or a side gig getting involved with the game you love. Grassroots soccer is the foundation of better coaches and better coaches = better players, regardless of which path they eventually choose to take in their soccer career.
  • Relationships: Meet others who value the game and its future by building a bridge to the next generation. Foster friendships and connections, develop new ideas, and discover proven ways to reach our youth.

Course Instructor

Erin Redwine grew up playing youth soccer in Washington for many years before taking her talents to the next level by playing collegiate soccer at the University of Montana and Seattle Pacific University. Erin later played for Seattle Sounders Women for six seasons while earning her United States Soccer Federation D, C, B and A Licenses. Since 2002, Erin has coached youth, college, and semi-pro soccer in Washington and now serves as the Eastern Washington Programs Director at Washington Youth Soccer.
